The Jefferson School African American Heritage Center’s mission is to honor and preserve the rich heritage and legacy of the African-American community of Charlottesville-Albemarle, Virginia and to promote a greater appreciation for, and understanding of, the contributions of African Americans and peoples of the Diaspora locally, nationally and globally.

To advocate on behalf of Black women and girls to promote leadership development and gender equity in the areas of health, education, and economic empowerment.

The 100 Black Men of Central Virginia advocate for the elimination of the achievement gap of African American males in grades K -12.

To end generational poverty, and to foster a culture of achievement in which all children in our community graduate from high school, ready for college or career. We accomplish this through partnerships with our parents, neighbors, organizations, schools and community.

New Hill Development Corporation is an African-American led social enterprise established to build financial resilience, economic opportunity and affordable housing in the Greater Charlottesville black community.

To promote and foster growth and development in children, ages 2-5 years old, by providing a high-quality early learning/child care environment that offers a variety of sensory, language, cognitive and social experiences designed to generate a love for learning and prepare children for a successful future in education and life.

To recruit, support, develop and retain a cadre of African American teachers to serve Charlottesville and Albemarle County schools.

Create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth.

Together, we desire to address spiritual, emotional and economic needs by offering Christ-centered programs and by sharing our lives together.

International Neighbors is a 501(c)(3) volunteer organization that works to equip refugee neighbors with the network and skills needed to move from surviving to thriving In Charlottesville.
