| About us | For over 27 years Feeding Greene has been providing supplemental food assistance to area families in need. Currently we are serving over 600 families who receive over 90,000 pounds of food each month. Feeding Greene is a 501(c)3 non-profit volunteer driven organization. We are open for families to shop every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 9:00am - 12:00noon through our Client Choice Program. We offer home deliveries to the elderly, disabled, and those without transportation in Greene County on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month from 9am-12noon. We provide roughly 100 bags of food to children every Friday during the school year with food for the weekend through our Backpack Program. We are thankful to be part of Feeding America's network of food banks and a member of Blue Ridge Area Food Bank in Charlottesville, VA. We have an average of 110 volunteers who donate their time 7 days a week collecting, sorting, and delivering food each month as well other areas of day to day operations. The food we offer is provided by Blue Ridge Area Food Bank, individuals, churches, and several community partner businesses. Our Community Partners provide us with perishables and bread & bakery items each week. In addition, we are able to purchase food from the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank at greatly reduced prices. How You Help: We would not be here without our volunteers. They provide over 1,500 hours per month of support. We have opportunities for groups, one time volunteers and those who can commit to more. We can also use your financial support. We do not receive any government funding. We are totally supported by those in our small, rural community. |
