Administrative SupportVolunteers provide administrative support to JABA programs on a weekly, monthly or seasonal basis across various departments. Tasks may include data entry, scheduling appointments, filing, administering surveys, preparing packets or mailings, and more. There may be a waitlist for this position.Activity LeaderOffer smiles and a helping hand to seniors at one of JABA’s Community Senior Centers or Adult Care Centers through virtual activity leading. You can assist others with crafts projects, lead a sing-along, help with gentle exercise classes, and so much more through recording videos, conference calls, or Zoom.Workshop Co-LeaderReceive training to be part of a two-person team leading groups of about ten adults as they develop skills to better cope with their chronic health conditions. Workshops meet once per week for six weeks. Each session is highly scripted, so you don’t have to guess what to do. There may be a waitlist for this position.Special Projects VolunteerDo you have a certain skill you really want to use in a volunteer role but can’t find an opportunity that is a good fit? Get in touch! We’d love to learn about what you want out of a volunteering role, as staff often have special projects that could use volunteer support. We also accept interns if their internship requirements align with staff needs.Louisa County Commission on Aging (COA) Board MemberJABA works closely with COA to gain insight on the aging community and inform decisions on transportation, medical care, and caregiving. The COA fulfills this mission by working with residents and community organizations like JABA to understand the needs of older adults and their caregivers, supporting local aging-related events, holding monthly public meetings and reporting its findings to the Louisa County Board of Supervisors. COA is searching for a volunteer board member who lives in Louisa County to participate in in-person monthly meetings, attend events, and promote COA in the community. Callers spend an average of one hour per week talking with their Neighbor, and PenPals send letters/art/cards to a staff member who distributes them to seniors in the area.
