There are many ways for individuals of all ages to volunteer time and talent, including as a volunteer for one-time events such as community events or work days, in the woods as a Mentor-in-Training, on one of our Board Committees or as a Board Member.
CAT is in need of a person or committee to help organize events and campaigns to raise money and other kinds of donations (such as cat food/supplies).
CAT is celebrating its 5th anniversary this year by holding a “Furball Fair” at Castle Hill Cider on May 7th, from 12-4PM. This is our largest event of the year, and we need help with event setup from 10am-12pm and tear-down from 3:45-5:15pm. (Items to be setup/tore-down include: tables, chairs, tents, and decorations.)
Starting Again in January 2023: Every Friday, volunteers make 75 meals – a sandwich, chips, fresh fruit, veggies with ranch dressing, and a cookie or other dessert – to take to UVA Children’s Hospital. We need folks here from 8 a.m. to around 9:30 a.m to ensure that we can get everything complete and to…
Our House families rely on donated items from several area businesses for breakfasts and lunches so we need volunteers to pick up these donations and help us feed families in need. You can support us by donation, volunteering with us to serve as Board Member, or Staff. You can also support us by talking about us to people and institutions that could support our mission.
Several times during the year we gather to erect a fence for a lucky HOWS dog who will be chained no more! These un-chained dogs “zoom” around their new spaces, overcome with their new-found sense of freedom. You can be a part of the “zoomies”; no experience necessary. Come build a fence with us!
HOWS Project holds its own events and attends quite a few others throughout the year. We often have a table set up with HOWS literature, merchandise, and giveaways! We love when passionate HOWS folks tend our table and educate passers-by about all our good deeds!
