Volunteers must be currently licensed in Virginia. A three hour minimum commitment monthly is the usual volunteer time. Liability insurance is held by the Commonwealth of Virginia when you are registered with the Office of Risk Management.

Welcome and assist clients during our office hours (M-Th, 2:00-7:30pm). Return phone calls and schedule appointments. Translate documents and flyers (in office or remote). Advocate and raise awareness. Donate to support our work. And, help with all the jobs listed at the right!

Opportunities include: fundraising, designing educational presentations, and providing marketing expertise.

Our behind the scenes administrative departments such as exhibitions, public programs, advancement, information technology, trips and membership keep the Heritage Center running. Volunteers in these areas are granted a behind-the-scenes look at how the Heritage Center develops and grows. Volunteer opportunities are available Tuesday-Friday 10-6pm, Saturday 10-3pm and as needed for special events.

Help us promote our events through social media, hanging posters and handing out leaflets. If you have a flare for design we could use your graphic skills as well.

Join us on the build site as an individual or with your team in a rewarding, fun environment — no experience necessary (Youth Builds 16+; General Builds 18+)

IMCC’s Board of Directors meets every other month to determine policies, procedures and regulations, provide fiscal oversight, assist in raising funds to finance the organization, provide leadership and assume leadership roles, and monitor organizational performance. We need woodworkers to help maintain our play elements and folks to sew to replace cloth items on the playscape. We are always interested in working with artists to add to the creativity of the playscape.
